4Kids.org - Gotta Love It!
By Arlene Richards • Aug 25th, 2008 • Category: tuesday treatsWow! There are so many exciting and fun computer activities designed to help kids succeed academically. Hats off to all those who are trying to help educate our children via the internet. Yes…kids need supervision while on the computer, but parents it is well worth your time and effort to become familiar with educational sights. These days, learning can definitely be fun!
4Kids.org is teaming with Arcademic Skill Builders to develop online games that offer a fun approach to learning math, language arts, vocabulary and thinking skills. These action packed games are designed to teach a variety of skills with varying levels of difficulty.
Check out these games:
Word Frog provides practice in matching antonyms, synonyms, and homonyms. The target word appears on the frog with the word category underneath, defining the relationship to be matched. Match the relationship by firing the frog's tongue at the correct fly.
Word Wizard - This one reminds me of the ever so popular Wheel of Fortune. Learn words in the fun select-a-letter word game. Fill in the blanks with the correct letters to complete the chosen category.
Alien Addition - Invading space ships with addition problems move toward a laser cannon. Answers are placed in cannon to equalize the invader with the correct answer.
Metro Multiplication assists students in multiplication as meteors with multiplication problems move toward the star station. This is a great way to help memorize multiplication facts.
Demolition Division helps students learn division. Fire the blaster at the tank with the correct problem. Remember the old saying, "practice makes perfect." Keep firing the blaster and soon your child will master division facts.
So as the new school year is now underway, take some time to explore with your child the interactive educational games that can help them with their core subjects. Believe me, it can really make a difference.
