KidZui: The Internet for Kids
By Eric Richards • Sep 21st, 2009 • Category: tuesday treats
An internet browser just for kids? Well we found one that may be of interest to both teachers and parents.
Introducing, www.kidzui.com, a completely self-contained browser targeted at kids ages 3-12.
So what makes KidZui so interesting? Well for starters, they take a different approach to finding great content and videos for kids. KidZui employs content editors (parents, teachers, guardians, etc) who find and recommend sites that are friendly to kids. Once approved, the site becomes part of their ever growing list of sites, currently over 600k, that can be viewed from their browser.
What KidZui is not is a content creator itself. Instead, it pulls content from a number of sites (kid approved of course). In my opinion, this can be a pretty effective way of finding kid friendly sites. And the list is growing quickly.
KidZui provides a number of categories for kids to browse, and the subject matter changes according to the age of the child. Parents can optionally add or delete content.
Benefits:
- Content is reviewed by teachers and parents so your kids can surf independently.
- Kids can have a place to experience the internet just for themselves.
- Over 600k sites currently approved and growing.
- Makes browsing the Internet safe, fun and easy for kids between the ages of 3-12.
- Get regular updates to your kids activities online via email or online reports.
- Simple and effective parental control.
- The service is free.
So if you’re looking for a safe internet environment for kids, whether you’re a parent, teacher or guardian, you may want to have a look at KidZui, the internet browser for kids.
