Easy on the sugar

On those days when the school cafeteria serves breakfasts of pancakes and syrup, the kids come in to the classroom with their feet barely touching the floor. The teacher rolls her eyes and prepares for a rough start to the day. She reaches for her thermos of high octane caffeine and hopes to keep up with them until the sugar high wears off.
In fairness, cafeterias are trying to do better at providing nutritional meals, but to make a point, l thought I'd pick on them a little.
Now I'll pick on you. How much sugar are you allowing your kids to ingest? With the obesity rate at an all time high for children, as is juvenile diabetes, sugar can be a serious threat to their health.
A sensible solution is to keep the doughnuts, cookies, ice cream and extra sugary cereals as an exception in their diets, not the usual fare.
What rules do you have in your home regarding the 'sweet stuff' ? Let us know with your comments. Thanks,
