Kidlutions: Solutions for Kids

As we approach the end of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Bing Note team would like to introduce you to a wonderful site called Kidlutions: Solutions for Kids.  We all know that kids will face many challenges in their life. And when they do, how do they deal with these feelings? Kidlutions mission is to provide all children with a sense of success in handling whatever problems come their way. In life, success is not the absence of problems, but the ability to deal with them.

Kidlutions is founded by Wendy Young, a certified School Social Worker, child and family therapist, and past hospice social worker. Wendy has significant experience working with kids, whose family member(s) have been diagnosed with cancer.  She has worked with kids aged 3-18 who have dealt with these issues and have gleaned a lot of information as to the inner-workings, questions, concerns and worries that kids have when dealing with a diagnosis of cancer in their family.

As a result, Wendy developed KidTalkCards: Dealing with Breast Cancer. The cards are based on 20+ years of clinical service and research into best practices when it comes to helping kids.  Thus, the cards really help get to the heart of the matter when it comes to kids’ concerns. KidTalkCards are a set of 50 pocket-sized cards, each with a question, prompt, idea, activity or project to help you help kids discuss what can be a very scary topic. The cards help deal with feelings, fears, anger, and other responses that kids have when they learn of the diagnosis, as well as they help adults answer for the kids how they will be cared for, increasing their security and sense of normalcy.

Yet, the KidTalkCards: Dealing with Breast Cancer are part of a larger group of resources developed by Wendy, in an effort to help kids deal with difficult subjects.  Other topics include: Dealing w/Cancer( non-specific), Divorce, Grief and Loss, Moving, amongst others.

So if your child is going through a difficult time and you are looking for some sort of  solution, we highly recommend Kidlutions. For more information on Kidlutions, the KidTalk Cards, or any other questions you may have, please visit their site at www.kidlutions.com.

Here’s to finding solutions for kids!
