Mommy's Early Morning Trauma

Today, numerous mothers faced a similar problem:

When they dropped off their child at the sitter, preschool or kindergarten, the child went into an explosion of sobs and pleadings. "MOMMMMEEEE, don’t leave me."

The mother, already feeling guilty, chokes back tears until she gets into the car, and then they start to flow. She grips the steering wheel and questions why she has to abandon her child to someone else’s care. She grieves missing precious moments. But what can she do?

At the first stop light she grabs her cell phone and calls, dreading to hear the traumatized child’s voice screaming in the background.

"How is he now?" she asks with a catch in her voice. "Mrs. Smith, he was fine by the time you pulled out of the parking lot." "Really?" "Really! Now you have a good day."

Relieved but a bit confused. . . hmmm, she thinks, did her innocent little child just get even with her? She has no time to think about it now but hurriedly repairs her makeup and tries to focus on the day ahead.
