The Angry Child

Do you have a child who is quick to react to every situation in a negative way? Is he or she sharp tongued, giving harsh answers when provoked the slightest? Why is that? What causes some children to scowl instead of smile?
When you have one angry person in the house, everyone suffers. Here are some books that I hope will help your situation.
- I Am So Angry, I Could Scream: Helping Children Deal With Anger
, by Laura Fox and Chris Sabatino
- Helping Your Angry Child: Worksheets, Fun Puzzles and Engaging Games to Help You Communicate Better: A Workbook for You and Your Family
, by Darlene Gaynor, Ph.D
- Angry Children, Worried Parents: Seven Steps to Help Families Manage Anger
, Sam Goldstein, Brooks and Weiss
If the problem persists, rule out medical problems (including visual and hearing), by a thorough examination by the pediatrician.
If the child is school age, then the anger probably is being exhibited at school too and you are getting notes from the teacher. Ask to meet with the School Success Team/Student Success TeamĀ for a review of his school performance. The team should offer behavior modification suggestions for the school and home. Continue to work with the team to gauge progress and to set new goals.

Schoolmarm, nice article! I think it's Student Success Team though. And who wrote the books you mentioned?
Schoolboy, The team may be called Student Success Team, School Success Team or School Study Team. They are one and the same.
The authors names have now been added to the post, thanks for asking. If you read the books and find them helpful, please let us know.
