The Power of Learning Through Music
By The Schoolmarm • May 26th, 2009 • Category: educationalAs an educator I was frequently in awe of children who could sing long, intricate, tongue twisting raps without missing a beat, yet had trouble remembering simpler things.
In this video, watch a youngster illustrate the power of learning through music by singing the names of all fifty states in alphabetical order.
If you want to take advantage of this music/memory partnership, my I suggest taking a look at Multiplication Wrap by Learning Wrap Ups. It's a great tool for kids to learn their times tables and uses a rap beat to help memory retention.
By repeating phrases to music, Bingzy's Sing-Along CD, by Arlene Richards, will help those little ones build self-esteem while having fun by learning through music.

So funny. Just this morning I was singing to my 2-year-old in the kitchen. I do that often in order to teach her concepts. She loves music and picks up the concepts quickly when I incorporate a tune. When I was done she said, "Nice singing. That's very special." Too cute
Anyway, my thought was…singing is so great for kids (for anyone, really). They love it, their little faces light up, the concepts are learned and remembered for years to come. Well done, Bing Note!
Thanks Shara! I still remember those educational chants and rhymes from way back when I was a kid. And I say them often, especially…I before E except after C. I don't know what I would do without them.
