Isn’t it wonderful to be able to find those “sure winners” when looking for educational games for children? Thousands of toys are developed each year, but how do we know which ones actually work? And what exactly is a “sure winner”?

Well, a Los Angeles-based company called Beyond Learning has developed educational board games, where children are so busy having fun that they forget they’re actually learning. There are currently 3 games out in the market – Word Chase! and Pick Up Words for reading, and Number Hunt for developing math skills.

With Word Chase!, the goal is to familiarize children with “sight words,” the 25 most commonly used words in the English language (also known as the “Dolch List ” and “Fry’s Instant Words”).  The game is designed for children ages four and up, but also accommodates younger children who are just learning to identify letters as well as older children who are mastering strategy.

Number Hunt makes numbers…fun! This game focuses on more than counting, allowing kids to see numbers in real terms – how they relate to quantities and amounts – as well as symbols. Kids learn and practice their math skills as they move along the jungle path. The game is designed for children ages four and up, but also accommodates younger children who are just learning to identify numbers as well as older children who are mastering strategy.
